Fishing Report, February 2

Fishing report in February? Yup, we don’t stop! We fish and guide all year and keep the smiles and happy customers going for all their fishing needs. The last blast of cold air has given us some new lakes to get out and fish on! Lakes west of Kalispell are good and lakes north of Whitefish are good solid options. We are looking at another round of cold air hitting us on Sunday night. Lows in the negatives with highs in the teens and single digits. Great ice-making weather!

Fishing Report, Whitefish

We have some new lakes north of Whitefish in the safe zone. Kookanee, smaller rainbows, and perch are great species to target right now. If you’re looking for numbers, you should target perch. If you want to keep some fish, you should target kokanee. How about a combo for when the kokanee bite slows down mid-morning? Yup, we’ve got you covered on that, too. Kookanee are a great fish to keep if you’re looking to keep fish. They are stocked every year and always seem to be plentiful. Great tasting and fun to catch… There are plenty of good safe options just a little north of Whitefish.

Fishing Report, Kalispell

The Kalispell area also offers great fishing, from great perch action to maybe rolling the dice and going for bigger fish. Most lakes west of Kalispell are in the safe zone, but a few of the bigger lakes are not yet there. Please exercise some caution when heading out. It never hurts to do frequent ice checks and be cautious. I’ll post an ice report later this week on the conditions of McGreggor lake. Tune in…
