Fishing Report, June 13

What a start to June! The Flathead River has been fishing exceptionally well this past week or so. Runoff has definitely peaked, and the river is now on a beautiful drop. With a fantastic forecast ahead—a mix of sunshine, clouds, a little rain, and highs in the 70s—we expect the Flathead to remain in prime condition. For those looking for more something different and willing to do a short drive, the Blackfoot and Clark Fork Rivers are also stellar options right now. It’s truly time to get out and enjoy some of the best fishing Montana has to offer all year!

Fishing Report, Whitefish

Fishing Report, WhitefishThe Flathead River is absolutely dialed in right now, running at a fantastic 12,700 CFS with water temps hitting a comfortable 56 degrees on sunny days. The clarity is excellent, and the fish are exactly where they should be. We’ve been consistently seeing beautiful Westslope Cutthroat, with an occasional rainbow adding to the mix.

Dry flies are definitely getting eaten – think your typical Chubbies and some mayfly patterns, though Chubbies are mostly stealing the show. Nymphing remains solid too, with worms and stoneflies proving very effective. I’m confidently expecting the Flathead to stay fishing this great for the rest of the month!

Fishing Report, Kalispell

Fishing Report, KalispellIf you’re in the Flathead Valley and looking to explore beyond the immediate area, the Clark Fork and Blackfoot Rivers are absolutely worth the short drive. These rivers often boast larger fish, and we typically find ourselves hooking into a few more on these trips. Both are currently offering excellent dry fly fishing. You can expect to find good-sized Cutthroat, rainbows, and even the occasional impressive brown trout, all making the journey well worth it. Keep your eyes peeled, because the salmonflies are popping on the Blackfoot, and we’ll definitely keep you updated as that big hatch gets going!
