Fishing Report, May 8
Rowdy weather day on the Missouri River today. Lots of rain, wind and sleet. Bring the rain I say! Maybe a bit warmer but the precipitation is good. Weather forecast is looking sunny starting tomorrow with highs in the 60’s and lows in the 30’s. I have to say its feeling pretty good weather wise right now. Lets see what shakes out and we’ll keep you posted on conditions.
Fishing Report, Whitefish
The Flathead River is flowing at 13700 cfs and temps are peaking at 43. The river is on the climb. The North Fork and Middle Forks are on the rise too. I would expect the river to keep getting higher and higher as the week progresses. It kind of feels like runoff is officially here. Lakes are the best call right now if you want to fish local.
Fishing Report, Kalispell
Lakes in the Kalispell area are fishing good right now. Rogers Lake is very productive for grayling and some nice cutthroat. Chronomids are getting eaten when dropped below a balanced leech. Bigger Calibaetis nymphs are getting eat’n too. Last week we had some really good dry fly fishing out there. Grayling eating drys all day long is a fun time! Pike fishing is solid too. The pike are done spawning and on the move. Find those weed beds and you’ll find the fish. Red and white pike flies are what you should be throwing.
