Fishing Report, May 29
Anotther great few weeks if fishing and weather. We’ve been having a pretty cool and wet May. Some snow in the mix keeping our upper level snow pack looking good. Most freestone rivers are blown out right now and still on the rise. I would expect the freestone rivers to start to drop in a week to 10 days. It really depends on how much rain we get and how warm it gets. I’ll keep you posted as things shake out.
Fishing Report, Whitefish
The Flathead river is flowing at 16600 CFS and is on a sharp rise. I would expect the flows to hit 24000 CFS in a few days. The river is defiantly not fishable right now and will probably stay that way for another few weeks. Maybe sooner but hard to tell until it happens. More rain means more runoff… Cooler days means a longer runoff… Hot days will blow it and bring the river in shape sooner. Seems like a normal May and June. When the river is blow we are doing our local trip on lakes and the lakes are fishing good!
Fishing Report, Kalispell
When our local river is blown out we adjust our trips to a few lakes in the Valley. Rogers Lake has been fishing really good. Grayling and some really nice cutthroat trout. Grayling have been very cooperative this month. I would expect the fishing to stay good there as long as the weather stays cool. Pike fishing has been great too. We’ve been getting good numbers of smaller pike and finding some medium sized pikes in other locations.
