Fishing Report, December 27

For the last two weeks, we’ve had good, safe ice and good fishing for perch, pike, grayling, and trout. With the warm weather we’ve been having you’d think that ice conditions are not very good? That is not the case… We have good safe conditions on certain lakes. In the lower elevations we haven’t had much snow, this has helped a lot with our ice conditions. No snow insulating thin ice and keeping it from growing. The weather over the next few days is starting to feel more like winter. Tuesday night-time lows will be in the teens with daytime highs in the 20’s.

Fishing Report, Whitefish

North of Whitefish we’ve been getting some really good perch and pike fishing. Lots of activity but not big perch. Pike have been pretty consistent too. Jaw Jackers set up like on deadsticks have been solid producers. I would expect North of Whitefish to stay good for the next few months. Whitefish Lake has not frozen yet. We need 7-10 days of below zero to lock that place up. Verticle jigging for lakers has been pretty decent though. Break out the lake boat and jigg’m up!

Fishing Report, Kalispell

Lakes to the west of Kalispell are fishing good too. Out here it’s more of a hunt than pounding lots of fish. We’ll show you how to play the game if you’re after big perch. Perch are big and very spooky, tough fish to catch. Stealth is a must. Grayling and trout are fun to target. I would say it’s kind of techy. Good jigging techniques to draw them in and finesse them to get the eat. It is fun but you should be kind of serious about learning and productive while on the ice.
