Fishing Report, December 8

Fishing Report, December 8-1Another great week on the ice! Guide trips have been really fun and the catching has been good too! The weather for the next 3 days is looking nice with temps in the low 30s and low 20s at night. The extended forecast shows another cold snap coming with highs in the 20s with lows in the single digits. With more cold weather on the way we could have a few more lakes freeze up and be good safe options.

Fishing Report, Whitefish

Just north of Whitefish, there is good perch and pike fishing. Finding weeds is the key to success. Lately, perch have been pretty difficult to get to come out of the weeds. Find the weeds you can fish in… Not too thick, not too thin… Just right. Fish’m in the weeds. It doesn’t seem to matter what color you’re using they’ll eat it if you find them. I do like tipping my jigs with pink maggots though. Seems to be very effective. In town, Blanchard has been good. Early is the key. Get there in the dark, as early as you can stand. As soon as it’s light out activity falls off.

Fishing Report, Kalispell

Kalispell area has some good ice fishing trips right now. Pike, perch, trout, grayling, and crappie are all good right now. New lakes coming in line are a few sloughs on the river. Mostly crappie there. Crappie like it dark. Go as early as you can get up and expect activity to slow as it gets light out. How about going out at night? Get there right before dark and stay late. The key to crappie is darkness.
