Fishing Report, February 13

Valentine’s Day is not far away so don’t forget that special someone in your life. After you get off the ice or river swing by and grab some flowers to thank them for having dinner ready for you when you get home. The weather for the next week is looking pretty nice for the ice angler. Lows in the single digits and highs in the 20’s. More great ice making weather. There are also a few low-pressure systems headed this way too. I like low pressure systems… They get the fish on the move and look for something to eat. Lately, the low pressure systems have had fish willing to eat.

Fishing Report February 13

Fishing Report, Whitefish

Whitefish Lake has been fihsing pretty good the last few days. Most places on the lake have 4-5” of good ice. Still be cautious out there, there are still some pretty sketchy spots out there. White tubes with some meat on it are still on the menu. Some days they’re chasey and some days they like the dead stick on the bottom. North of Whitefish, perch fishing has been solid. Bigger fish are moving from deeper water into shallower water. 4-10′ of water has been good. Shallow water perch are usually very active and willing to eat your jigs.

Fishing Report, Kalispell

West of town there is some good laker fishing at a few lakes. Most of the lakes out here are locked up pretty good. Kokanee out this way too. Some days they are willing to eat and some days it’s a bit more tricky. Bugs on dropper rigs are getting the most eats for Kokanee. Echo Lake should be safe right now. I’m headed that way tomorrow, I’ll update the conditions on the next report. I’d expect the whitefish to be on the move and willing to eat. Smaller tung jigs with maggots are very effective out there.
