Fishing Report, February 21

What a cold snap we just had! Talk about a winter wonderland! The crazy cold and heavy snow last week really thickened the ice and opened up some of the bigger lakes we’ve been waiting for. This has been fantastic, allowing us to get out and target those bigger fish we’ve been dreaming of. The next 7 days are looking interesting, weather-wise, with highs in the low 40s and lows around 30, plus some rain in the forecast. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the conditions and will keep you updated on how it all plays out. Stay tuned for more reports!

Fishing Report, Whitefish

Fishing Report, WhitefishWe’ve been getting a lot of questions about Whitefish Lake, and the answer is YES – it’s fishing great! The cold weather last week finally allowed us to get out there, and the ice is solid, around 6-8 inches in most places. Of course, we’re always cautious and recommend you do the same – check that ice frequently! The lakers have been loving white tubes with cut bait, especially in the deeper water, 150-170 feet. They’re really active right now, which makes for some exciting fishing! We’ve been having a blast out there. The weather forecast has us a little concerned, though, with warmer temps and rain predicted. We’ll be keeping a close watch on the ice and will let you know what we find. Stay tuned for updates from Whitefish Lake

Fishing Report, Kalispell

Kalispell Fishing: A Mixed Bag! The fishing around Kalispell has been fantastic! We’ve got solid ice and the fish are active. Perch, kokanee, whitefish, and smallmouth are all on the menu. But, and it’s a big but, all that snow is becoming a factor. With the recent warming trend, it’s getting heavy and slushy out there. It’s not terrible yet, but it’s definitely something to be aware of. Rubber boots are your best friend right now! Get out and enjoy the great fishing while it lasts, but be prepared for some less-than-ideal walking conditions.
