Fishing Report, June 21
Montana is starting to feel like summer! but before it sets in we are going to get blasted with a winter warning. Last week we got some snow in the mountains and on a few of the passes. Reports of 18” in some places. This will be nothing but good for our rivers this summer. More snow means more cold water and we all know trout love cold water. Weather is looking pretty nice this weeked and next week. Highs in the 80’s and lows in the 50’s.
Fishing Report, Whitefish
The Flathead River has been fishing good the last 10 days or so… the river is flowing at 13000 CFS and temps are peaking at 51. Bugs are on the water late morning or early afternoon. Dry flies are definately the most effective when the bigs show up. Purple haze, parachute adams are very effective. PMD cripples work great too. Hopefully the green drakes show up and start to get chowed. I’ll keep you updated as more bugs show up.
Fishing Report, Kalispell
If you’re looking for a new river to fish the Blackfoot is fishing good right now. Dry droppers in the mornings and double dry around lunch time. They’re in the riffles an center of the river boulder fields. The boulder field fish are still a bit reluctant to eat but they’re close. Today e had a good number of them move but not eat it. It’s gonna happen soon. The Blackfoot is flowing at 1270 cfs with temps peaking at 63.
