Fishing Report, November 21
The Flathead River continues to be a great trip for trout and Lake Superior whitefish. Trout are very willing to eat nymphs in their normal winter spots. Slow inside outs are where they are holding right now. The Flathead River is flowing at 3600 CFS and temps are peaking at 42 on sunny days. I would expect that to change in a few weeks when a new cold front hits us… Things are pretty reasonable until a day or two after Thanksgiving. For now, we’re looking at highs in the upper 30’s and lows at 20-30. Let’s enjoy the heat wave while we have it!
Holiday Fishing Report…
Thanksgiving is just 7 days away. We are running guided trips on the Flathead River until ice fishing season starts. Like I Said above fly fishing for trout has been a good trip. Lake Superior Whitefish have been great trips too. They’re a little different. Trips are from a jet boat and we use spinning rods to target them. 1/8 oz jigs are very effective, light bits and hard-fighting fish make for a super fun day. Looking to keep a few fish for dinner? This is the trip for you! We’ll keep a few and you’ll have a great dinner! Absolutely nothing wrong with keeping a few Lake Superior whitefish for dinner.
Ice Fishing Report…
How is the ice season looking? Pretty good right now. I’m not seeing any ice on the lakes yet but it’s not far off. Cold temps this week and even colder after Thanksgiving. I will give you a weekly update on how the ice is shaping up… If you’re out here for the holidays and want to take the family on a cool fishing trip then our guided ice fishing trips are perfect! We supply all the equipment, heated ice houses, comfortable chairs, ice fishing-specific fish finders, and the trips are private. You’ll have a fun guide that will put you on fish and show you a good time. We are booking trips during the holiday season right now… 406-233-9001, give a call anytime and we’ll figure out a fun trip!
