Fishing Report, October 2
Holly cow! Where did summer go? Fortunately, we are having an amazing fall right now! Highs in the 60s for the next week and maybe even bumping into the 70s after that. We’ll take it. Not only is the weather great… The fishing is too. Flathead, Clark Fork, and Blackfoot River are all in great shape and fishing well!
Fishing Report, Whitefish
The Flathead River is very close to Whitefish and is fishing great right now. It seems like there are a lot of fish in the river right now. How about bugs? Yup, plenty of bugs on the water too. Medium sized mayflies are productive, and smaller attractors and caddis are getting chowed too. The Flathead is flowing at 3560 CFS and temps are peaking at 53 in the middle of the day. Look for the Flathead to get better and better as October goes along. We typically see more and bigger fish this time of year. Fish are moving down from the 3 forks of the Flathead and fish are moving up from the lake. This is a great time of year on the water.
Fishing Report, Kalispell
The Clark Fork and Blackfoot Rivers are not far from Kalispell. Depending on where you’re leaving from you’re probably 1.5-2.0 hours away. The drive is worth every second. Quiet with some amazing views… The Clark Fork is fishing great right now. Bigger rainbows, Cutthroat, and some great brown trout lately. One day the dry is on fire and the next the dropper is what they want. Blackfoot is the same… Streamer fishing is good on the Blackfoot this time of year. We are seeing rainbows and some great cutthroat making for a great day of streamer fishing.
