Fly Fishing Charters
MFG has a deep roster of guides that are primarily guiding fly fishing trips on the local rivers. We offer full and half day fly fishing charters on the Flathead River, Clark Fork River, Blackfoot River, and Missouri Rivers. Fly Fishing Charters are based out of drift boats, all the equipment is included. MFG guides all have very nice fly fishing equipment, no bad equipment on any of the boats. Boats are always clean and ready to fish… Myself and any of my guides are very proficient and patient teachers. We are professional fishing guides that make a living taking people fishing.
Fly fishing charters start the day by meeting at a location convenient to you and where we’ll be fishing. You’ll then load up with your guide and head to the river. After launching the boat you’ll shove off with your guide for a day of fishing. Your guide will start by teaching you how to cast a fly rod, mending a fly line, how to set the hook, and fight fish. As the day progresses your guide will help you with casting, continually work on mending, hook sets, and fighting fish. Your guide will always be supportive and helpful.
Fly fishing charters run all year long. Depending on where you want to fish and when you come out… Montana Fishing Guides has a fly fishing charter for you.

Flathead Lake Fishing Charters
Montana Fishing Guides offers Flathead Lake Charters. Our Flathead Lake Charters are a bit different than a standard trolling trip on the lake. We focus on jigging and actually having clients catch fish themselves. On the right day with the right conditions, we target lake trout and whitefish by jigging for them. Jigging can be done in the river itself, outside the river mouth in the delta, and in numerous locations on Flathead Lake. We also offer Flathead Lake fishing charters for pike in the early season and throughout the year.
Flathead Lake Fishing Charters will start the day by meeting at any number of boat ramps on the lake. When possible we prefer to meet up at a boat ramp in the lower river. This will keep you away from the hustle and bustle of the boat ramps on the lake. After meeting up you jump in the boat and shove off for your day of fishing. Once at the area you’ll be fishing your guide will familiarize you with casting, jigging techniques, hooking, and fighting fish. Throughout the day your guide will help you with catching and fighting fish. Your guide will always be supportive and fun to fish with.
Whitefish Lake Fishing Charters
Montana Fishing Guides offers Whitefish Lake Charters. Our Whitefish Lake Charters are a bit different than a standard trolling trip on the lake. We focus on jigging and actually having clients catch fish themselves. On the right day with the right conditions, we target lake trout and whitefish by jigging for them.
We target structure when looking for Lake Trout on Whitefish Lake. Shorelines, docks, one of the numerous shoals, rocky points, buckets on flats, and natural springs in the back of the lake. Whitefish Lake fishing charters are designed to get you fishing, learn how to use a spinning rod, teach you how to work jigs, and catch fish.
Whitefish Lake Fishing Charters will start the day by meeting at one of the two boat ramps on the lake, jumping in the boat, and shoving off for your day of fishing. Once at the area you’ll be fishing your guide will familiarize you with casting, jigging techniques, hooking, and fighting fish. Throughout the day your guide will help you with catching and fighting fish. Your guide will always be supportive and fun to fish with.
Ice Fishing Charters
Montana Fishing Guides offers fishing charters 365 days a year. In Montana the winters are cold and lakes freeze over in late November and early December. Ice fishing charters are a big part of our year-long fish catching program. Mid December the ice on local lakes is safe enough to start offering ice fishing charters in the Flathead Valley. The Flathead Valley is home to 100’s of lakes and ice fishing options. MFG is out on the ice everyday fishing all over the valley. We are in tune with what lake is fishing the best and what species to target. We offer ice fishing charters for perch, pike, crappie, cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, largemouth bass, and lake trout. We have an ice fishing charter to suit your needs. MFG’s ice fishing charters are reasonably priced and can accommodate any group size. High-end ice fishing gear is included in our fishing charters. High-quality ice rods, quality reels, braided lines with fluorocarbon leaders, the newest and fishiest jigs, spoons, high-end ice specific electronics, and portable ice shelters with heaters. Our goal is to keep you on the fish and as comfortable as possible.
Ice fishing charters start the day by meeting someplace convenient to your location and where we’ll be fishing. Once at the lake we will move out on the ice and do a short safety talk. We then proceed to the area we will be fishing. We will go over using ice fishing electronics. The electronics will tell you when the fish are around and how they are reacting to the jigging and jigs we are using. We will go over how to get fish to eat your jigs, then hooking them when they eat and playing them after hooked. Weather dependent your guide will set up ice shelters and fire up the heaters. Ice fishing sometimes requires frequent moves to stay on the fish or find new ones. Sometimes it is beneficial to stay out of the shelters but one is always close by for a warming hut and base camp. Ice fishing charters through Montana Fishing Guides are designed to teach you how to catch fish and show you a fun day on the water.
